Airbnb: with 7 active ads, Cannes is the 418th French city on the platform

Airbnb, the American short-term rental giant, continues to experience great success nationwide. In some towns on the Riviera, there are even more Airbnb rental companies than hotel customers. Among the largest users of the accommodation platform, we find the people of Cannes, who hold the fourth place of the largest providers of accommodation on Airbnb, with 7 active ads.

The first hotelier in France

According to a recent study carried out by Alternative Economiques, Airbnb has become the leading hotelier in France, with 473 ads registered to date on the platform. A real success for the American giant, but a real disaster for hoteliers who still have to admit that Airbnb offers more attractive prices. If the capital, Paris, naturally remains the largest provider of housing on the platform, with more than 870 advertisements, Cannes comes just in fourth place in this national ranking, with 60 advertisements.

In Cannes, 55% of tourists prefer Airbnb

In Cannes, the share of multi-renters in all advertisements for entire homes on Airbnb is 55%, the 19th highest proportion in the whole country. This observation means, for Murray Cox, creator of the Inside Airbnb site, the existence of many illegal rentals, but also the importance of the short-term rental market compared to long-term rental.

The Cannes Film Festival boosts seasonal rentals

Hungry for cheaper but good quality accommodation, tourists have been flocking to Cannes lately. And with the various cultural events and congresses that are recently organized in Cannes, seasonal rentals are on the rise. An opportunity that the owners do not fail to seize on the fly, in order to supplement their monthly income, during the Festival. And even after these events, Cannes will certainly continue to welcome visitors increasingly interested in furnished accommodation.
