Interview with Fred Hercule: Director of the YourHostHelper concierge in Nice

Good morning ! To start, could you introduce yourself in a few words?

Hello, my name is FRED HERCULE, I was born in Mauritius where I studied. In addition, I took an accountancy course there. However, I have always wanted to work in the tourism sector because I like the contact with customers and my mother tongue being English, it is an important asset very appreciated in this sector of activity. I have been living in Nice for ten years. I worked as Director of Riviera Car Prestige, a chauffeur-driven passenger car company for several years.

What motivated you to get involved in the management of vacation rentals?

It's a real opportunity to be able to meet people while working. It has always been part of my job since I basically transported clients from the airport to their vacation spot. I knew how to develop trust between them and me, so much so that they often entrusted me with the keys. I realized that this exchange with the client was very interesting and made me want to make this vacation rental management project a reality and I therefore embarked on the adventure by choosing YourHostHelper for its seriousness and its reputation.

Why did you choose the city of Nice to set up your activity?

For several reasons. There are a lot of advantages in Nice. In winter, the climate is mild and the temperature often reaches 20 degrees. The Promenade des Anglais is a place of relaxation very popular with tourists. In summer, the sweetness of life in the heights of Nice is appreciated by hikers and lovers of typically Provençal villages. Vieux Nice and Cours Saleya are lively places from morning to night frequented by people of all ages where restaurants, pubs and shops are concentrated.

What places would you recommend to a traveler wishing to explore this city?

We can recommend the magnificent XNUMXth century Chateau de Nice which overlooks the Quai des Etats-Unis with a breathtaking view of the Baie des Anges and Nice Airport on one side, as well as the very beautiful Port Lympia lined with buildings. typically Nice colors, on the other side.

We can visit on the heights of Cimiez, the Chagall Museum and the Matisse Museum. Located in an adorable secret garden. The diversity of Nice's heritage does not leave you indifferent, like the splendid Saint-Nicolas Cathedral built in 1912.

Starting from Place Masséna, star square in the city of Nice and overlooked by its imposing Apollo, you can enjoy a bucolic walk along the green belt and end with a historic underground discovery of the Archaeological Crypt of the medieval remains of a walled city located just below Place Garibaldi.

For those who have more time and who like to walk, there are in particular:
The Coastal Path which leaves from Nice to Cap d'Ail for a sumptuous stroll along the hillside as close as possible to the seaside.
The Parc du Mont Boron and the Fort du Mont Alban located on the heights of Nice offer pleasant family walks.

Downtown :
Stroll through the colorful little streets of Old Nice
Visit the Sainte-Reparate Cathedral and Notre-Dame Basilica in Nice
Stroll through the flower market on Cours Saleya which is present every morning
Practice many water activities that are offered all along the beach and have lunch in one of the shaded restaurants which all rent deckchairs.

What benefits do you find in working in rental management?

It's a varied job for which every day is different and can allow me to make nice encounters. It is also a pleasant way to have the possibility of discovering a little better the districts that we do not know enough about.

What are the essential qualities in your profession?

PATIENCE, ENTHUSIASM, MOTIVATION and DETERMINATION
Knowing how to welcome travelers with a good mood is essential in order for their stay to begin as pleasantly as possible. We must give a good brand image and above all show our professionalism.

Why did you choose to join the YourHostHelper brand license?

I tried to undertake this activity several times on my own but the YourHostHelper license appeared to me as a relevance to be able to complete my project. I needed experience and support both logistically and technologically.

Can you describe for us the daily life in your job?

We meet different owners and we visit different types of properties. Spend time on the phone to manage cleaning teams for example and on software to take care of the organization of check-in / check-out, and especially to verify the profiles of potential customers, their method of payment (develop further if possible)

What can we wish you the best in this new adventure?

Succeed and expand (why not to Monaco, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Beausoleil or Cap d'Ail) while satisfying customers and owners.
Seeing beyond the classic, staying creative and coming up with new things.
