MAPIC 2018 seasonal rental: up to 50 euros in fines for illegal practices

At the beginning of March 2018, a “strengthening of financial sanctions” was announced by the Secretary of State to the Minister of Territorial Cohesion, Julien Denormandie, for the attention of rental companies as well as seasonal rental platforms such as Airbnb, for illegal ads. It is therefore time for all players in the MAPIC 2018 seasonal rental sector to update their activities.

Furnished tourist rental: what does the law say?

Airbnb, Homeway, Abritel as well as most rental platforms were not affected by financial sanctions to date. But the rules are now the same for all players operating in the sector, according to statements made by Julien Denormandie on France 2 at the beginning of March.

Any MAPIC 2018 tourist furnished rental must therefore be registered with the Town Hall and clearly display their registration number on their advertisement. This is the only way to ensure that owners do not exceed the legal rental limit of 120 days per year.
