Rental in Cannes: a 230% increase in housing prices during the Festival

Cannes has been booming lately with the many cultural events and congresses held there. On the sidelines of the opening of the 71st edition of the Cannes Film Festival, at the beginning of May, the number of the Cannes population has tripled. And with that, the price of accommodation too. For the first weekend of the Festival, Cannes recorded a 230% increase in rental prices in Cannes. And it's not about to end.

75 inhabitants in Cannes

For the Cannes Film Festival alone, the Cannes population is increasing in number. From 73 without the Festival, today there are no less than 000 inhabitants of Cannes living in the city. Around 75 visitors land in Cannes for a major international event. And most of them, passing through, are potential clients for a rental in Cannes.

Rentals in the assault

Seasonal rentals in Cannes are doing well, but even better this year with the Festival. According to recent statistics revealed by a holiday accommodation price comparison engine, the city's occupancy rate now stands at 97%. An opportunity for the owners of furnished rentals to increase their prices by 475 euros per night, or 950 euros for the weekend of the Festival. But the price doesn't matter, visitors are in Cannes for an exceptional reason. And the Festival does not only increase the number of Cannes' population, it also participates in the economic development of the city, in particular through short-term rentals.

Of course, the offers may vary from one municipality to another, and accommodation prices a few kilometers from the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès are generally more reasonable.
