French searches on Airbnb for 2024: France in the spotlight

Airbnb gives us the pleasure, one more year, of sharing with us the top travel searches in France carried out by… The French. Unsurprisingly, the Olympic Games scheduled for the summer of 2024 strongly influence the searches of the French who seem, once again, to appreciate this major event. Above all, and since it is being held this year on their territory, the French seem ready to travel to watch it from the stands and not from their television sets.

But the Games do not represent the entirety of national tourism and ultimately only last a few days. Other cities, driven by more traditional tourism but also broader seasons, complete this ranking. Bayeux, Reims, Lyon, Biscarosse and Saint-Aignan complete places 6 to 10 in this annual top. Ultimately varied destinations, at sea and inland, once again showing the diversity of French assets and the expectations of our travelers.

The top 10 French destinations by Airbnb:

  1. Versailles – Île-de-France
  2. Boulogne-Billancourt – Île-de-France
  3. Lille – Hauts-de-France
  4. Paris – Île-de-France, France
  5. Nanterre – Île-de-France
  6. Bayeux – Normandy
  7. Reims – Grand Est
  8. Lyon – Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
  9. Biscarrosse – New Aquitaine
  10. Saint-Aignan – Center-Val de Loire

The opinion of Anthony, YourHostHelper concierge director in Lyon:

We can only see the impact of the Olympic Games on these research intentions for 2024. Let us remember, however, that this top 10 is based on French searches from January to September 2023 and are neither quantified nor perfectly representative of what will be tourism in France in 2024 for the French. The first 5 places are naturally taken by Olympic cities, Lille being almost surprisingly ahead of Paris. The list being ordered according to the original Airbnb publication, there is therefore a strong chance, despite the fact that no quantity or order of magnitude is specified, that it is indeed an order of "preference" of the French that this represents. list.

Our concierge in Lyon can only appreciate the presence of Lyon in this top and salute our colleagues from Bayeux and Reims whose cities also appear there. Biscarosse and Saint-Aignan also find their place in this top and that makes just as much sense. All are particularly famous French tourist destinations, particularly for leisure stays, holidays, during the summer season but also beyond. In itself, this top 10 is not surprising and it is certainly good news. Let's wait for the mid-year report to confirm or refute these first estimates, hoping that the dynamic remains growing as it has been recently.
