Airbnb, the world leader in peer-to-peer housing rental, has just taken a new step in improving the user experience. In partnership with Klarna, a specialist in payment solutions, Airbnb now offers French travelers a payment option in installments, a feature that revolutionizes the way travelers can split the costs of their reservations.
More flexibility for paying for vacation rentals:
The global deployment of this functionality will take place gradually, but from 2024, travelers in France will be able to benefit from this option for their reservations on Airbnb. This new payment method allows the cost of a stay to be split into three interest-free payments. Whatever the destination chosen, the duration or the number of guests, flexibility is now integrated by default into the payment process. Only a minimum rental cost and a ceiling determine access to this payment method.
Bertrand Burdet, Deputy Director of Airbnb France, is delighted with this innovation. “We are excited to launch installment payment with Klarna in France. This new feature offers greater flexibility to travelers, with payment possible over several weeks or months. This option simplifies the payment process, whether booking a solo trip or organizing a vacation with friends. »
Transparency in this new Airbnb payment method:
During the booking process, travelers have the option to choose between paying for their entire stay at once or opting to pay in installments with Klarna. In the latter case, they are redirected to Klarna's payment platform, ensuring a transparent and smooth process.
Joséphine Soublin, Director of Klarna in France, underlines the importance of this collaboration. “Airbnb tells us that one of the top requests from its guests is for more ways to pay for their stays. We are excited to offer our flexible payment options to platform users everywhere. »
The opinion of Erika, Airbnb concierge manager in Bulgaria in Sofia:
Paying in installments for Airbnb stays is good news. Airbnb has chosen a partner that is not only trusted but also technically capable of offering a reliable and fluid solution for travelers. From what we read, many owners, investors and rental management professionals like us are waiting for the global deployment of this solution. If for us, in Bulgaria, this is not yet relevant, it seems that it will become so during the year 2024 and that is a good thing. OUR concierge agency in Sofia can then only welcome the implementation of this new payment method for tenants, provided that this does not harm the payment deadline for owners.
Immediate launch in 7 European countries, others to come:
In addition to France, payment in installments with Klarna is also launched simultaneously in six other European countries: the Czech Republic, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal and Spain. Other countries will be included in this new offer during the year. Airbnb's objective is to launch this offer from the beginning of 2024 in a limited number of countries and then take advantage of the following weeks and months to deploy this new payment method more widely.
This new feature will be available in early 2024 for all travelers in France, applying to reservations priced between €35 and €2. Airbnb and Klarna are redefining payment standards to offer travelers an even more convenient experience tailored to their needs. The possibilities for traveling flexibly have never been so numerous.
